The US leader held a phone call, indicating the position towards Taiwan

Previously, both of them were absent from the G20 summit this weekend.

The Chinese leader cited the anti-fascist alliance between the two countries during World War II and urged both sides to work together to “defend the fruits of victory in World War II”.

A few hours after that phone call ended, Trump had a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Saane Takashi. Takashi Saane said that the US leader took the initiative to contact her, reaffirmed the relationship with Tokyo, informed her of the China-Japan relations, and also said that she could call him at any time.

Just a few weeks ago, the leaders of the world’s largest economy reached a trade truce agreement.

Trump’s decision to speak with the leaders of the two countries highlights his determination to avoid getting involved in the dispute between an important ally of the United States and its largest supplier of rare earths.

The US-China trade team is finalizing the final details of the truce agreement, while diplomatic mediation is intensifying. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said earlier this month that a rare earth deal between the two countries “is expected” to be reached before Thanksgiving, but negotiations on key implementation details are still ongoing.
