The UK, Canada and Australia have recognized the State of Palestine, marking a major shift in the stance of Israel’s major Western Allies

Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom announced today (September 21, 2025) that they officially recognized the State of Palestine, attempting to put pressure on Israel as it continues its military operations in the Gaza Strip despite the international community’s anger.

These three countries, which have been Israel’s steadfast Allies for decades, also express deep frustration over the lack of progress in the two-state solution.

This move has caused them to diverect from the United States and deepened Israel’s international isolation.

A senior Hamas official told CNN that the move by the UK, Canada and Australia to officially recognize Palestine today is a “welcome step”.

However, Nayim added that such recognition must “be accompanied by practical measures to confirm these rights and thwart Zionist plans that explicitly reject any Palestinian political entity.”

He said, “It must be emphasized that the top priority at present is to stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip and end the humanitarian blockade on the region.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the move by the UK, Canada and Australia to officially recognize Palestine today, vowing that “there will be no Palestinian state.”

Netanyahu said in a statement on Sunday: “I want to send a clear message to those leaders who recognized the State of Palestine after the terrorist massacre on October 7: You are offering huge rewards for terrorism.”

The Israeli leader said that despite facing huge domestic and international pressure, he had been preventing the establishment of the so-called “terrorist state” for many years.

We did this out of determination and diplomatic wisdom. More importantly, the number of Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria has doubled – and we will continue down this path, “he said, using the terms that Israel typically uses to refer to the occupied West Bank.

Netanyahu added, “I will respond to the recent attempts to establish a terrorist state in our homeland upon my return from the United States.” Let’s wait and see.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sarr’s remarks condemned the actions of Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom today to recognize the State of Palestine as “infuriating and immoral”.

In a video statement, Sal said, “On the one hand, this is a reward for Hamas after the massacre on October 7.” This can only be regarded as encouraging terrorism.

The Foreign minister stated that there is strong opposition within Israel to the establishment of a Palestinian state, which will serve as a guarantee to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Sal added, “The future of the land of Israel will not be decided in London or Paris – it will be here, in Jerusalem.”
